What to see in Udaipur
A palace on the lake, boat rides, temples and a monsoon palace on the hill. One full day covers the old city and the lakes.
City Palace
The largest palace complex in Rajasthan, on the bank of Lake Pichola. Keep your ticket: the boat ride starts from a jetty inside.
Lake Pichola boat ride
The boat goes past the white Lake Palace hotel to Jag Mandir, the island palace. The sunset boat costs more and fills up, so book it at the palace.
Jagdish Temple
A carved temple to Vishnu from 1651, just north of the City Palace. It closes from about 12:30 to 17:00, so go in the morning.
Fateh Sagar Lake
A big lake ringed by hills, with a long promenade where families gather in the evening. Boats go out to Nehru Garden island.
Sajjangarh (Monsoon Palace)
A white palace on a hilltop, built in 1884, with the widest view over the lakes. Cars often stop at the sanctuary gate, and park vehicles take you up.
Ambrai Ghat
The west shore of Lake Pichola, with the best view of the City Palace across the water. Come for sunset.

A 15th-century marble Jain temple in a forest valley, known for its hundreds of carved pillars. Non-Jain visitors are let in from about midday, so time the drive for that.
