Rate per km by car
From 474 outstation round-trip quotes on Bharat Taxi, EazyGo and Savaari, across 31 Indian cities, collected in July 2026. The middle half is where most quotes fell: a quarter were cheaper and a quarter dearer.

Tempo traveller rate per km
The median tempo traveller quote was ₹37 a km, and most were between ₹28 and ₹47. The range is wide because a 12-seater and a 17-seater Urbania sit in the same group, so ask for the seat count with every quote. Most bill at least 300 km a day, with about ₹600 a day for the driver.
How a round-trip fare adds up
A sedan for 300 km each way over 2 days, at ₹13 a km:
- 600 km there and back at ₹13
- ₹7,800
- Driver allowance, 2 days at ₹300
- ₹600
- Before tolls, parking and GST
- ₹8,400
A shorter trip still pays the daily minimum: 100 km each way over 2 days is billed as 500 km, not 200.
Common questions
What is the rate per km for a cab in India?
For an outstation trip, the median quote was ₹12 for a hatchback, ₹13 for a sedan, ₹17.5 for a suv, ₹22 for a Innova Crysta, ₹37 for a tempo traveller. Most quotes fell within the middle-half range in the table above.
Why do outstation cabs charge a minimum km a day?
The car and driver are with you all day and cannot take another job. Most quotes bill at least 250 km a day (300 km for a tempo traveller), even on a day you drive less.
How do I work out a round-trip cab fare?
Double the one-way distance, compare it with the minimum km a day times the number of days, and multiply the larger by the rate per km. Then add the driver allowance for each day, plus tolls, parking and state permits.
What is driver allowance?
A daily amount for the driver's food and stay on an outstation trip: about ₹300 a day for a car and ₹600 for a tempo traveller in these quotes.
Are tolls and parking included in the rate per km?
Usually not. Tolls, parking and state entry permits are charged on top, at what they actually cost, because they depend on the route.
