  6. Back at central Ahmedabad

Drive times come from road routing without traffic. The old city's roads round Lal Darwaja, Relief Road and Kalupur are slow and crowded from late morning, and Ashram Road and the SG Highway are busy from about 17:30 to 20:00. Allow extra time in the old city, and plan on an hour more than the map shows on the Modhera and Patan day. Opening hours marked ? are not yet confirmed, so check them before you go.

More or less time in Ahmedabad?

Questions people ask

Which days should I avoid?

Keep days one and two off a Monday: Kankaria, Dandi Kutir and Akshardham are closed. The Modhera and Patan day works on any day, so make it the Monday.

Is the Modhera and Patan day too long?

It is a long day: about 263 km and 10 hours. The map gives about 5 hours of driving; plan on 6. Ask for an outstation fare, not the 8 hour, 80 km city package.

Can I see the light shows at Modhera and Rani ki Vav?

Not on a day trip back to Ahmedabad: the Modhera show starts at about 19:00 and the Rani ki Vav show at 19:30. To see one, stay a night in Patan or Mehsana.
