  10. Back at central Shillong

Drive times come from road routing without traffic. Shillong's roads are narrow, steep and often jammed from about 09:00 to 11:00 and 16:00 to 19:00, and the Sohra and Dawki roads are winding hill roads that slow down in rain and fog. Allow an hour or two more than the map shows on the Sohra and Dawki days. Opening hours marked ? are not yet confirmed, so check them before you go.

More or less time in Shillong?

Questions people ask

Is 2 days enough for Shillong and Cherrapunji?

Yes, for the main sights. Add a third day for Mawlynnong and Dawki, which are in a different direction from Cherrapunji.

Which day of the week suits each day?

Keep day one off a Sunday, when the Don Bosco Museum is closed. The Cherrapunji day works on any day, so make it the Sunday if your trip has one.

Can I do Cherrapunji and Dawki on the same day?

Not well. They are on different roads, and both together are well over 200 km of hill driving. Give each its own day, or choose one: Cherrapunji for waterfalls and caves, Dawki for the clear river and Mawlynnong.
