  7. Back at Mall Road, Manali

Drive times come from road routing without traffic. Manali's roads are narrow and winding, and the road to Solang and the Atal Tunnel jams badly in season and after snow. Allow much more time than the map shows: the Atal Tunnel day often ends at 16:00 or later. Opening hours marked ? are not yet confirmed, so check them before you go.

More or less time in Manali?

Questions people ask

Is Naggar worth a day?

Yes, if you like old buildings and art. The castle is more than 500 years old, the Roerich house shows a famous painter's Himalaya paintings, and the drive down the quiet left bank of the Beas is pretty. The day is short, back by about 14:30.

Can I add Kullu or Manikaran?

Kullu is about 20 km past Naggar, so it fits on day three if you start early and skip the Jagatsukh stop. Manikaran is about 80 km from Manali, a long day of its own.

What if day three falls on a Monday?

Swap it with the town day. Only the Roerich gallery closes on Mondays; everything on the other two days stays open.
