Tip: Only guests go inside. Walk round the lawn, and have tea at the lodge if it is open to visitors that day.

  11. Back at central Kalimpong

Drive times come from road routing without traffic. Kalimpong's hill roads are narrow, steep and winding, the village roads to Rishop, Lolegaon and Sillery are rough in places, and monsoon landslides close roads, so real drives take longer than shown. Opening hours marked ? are not yet confirmed, so check them before you go.

More or less time in Kalimpong?

Questions people ask

Can you see Kalimpong in one day?

You can see the town: Deolo, the monasteries, Mangal Dham, the Lepcha Museum and Durpin. Rishop, Lava, Lolegaon and Pedong are further out and need a day each, or one day for Rishop, Lava and Lolegaon together.

Why does the day start at Deolo Hill?

Kanchenjunga is most often clear early in the morning, and cloud usually builds by late morning. The park opens at about 09:00 (some listings say earlier).

What if I am in Kalimpong on a Sunday?

Everything else in this plan is open, but the Lepcha Museum is closed. Skip it, and use the time for the cactus nursery or Thongsa Gompa if your driver knows the way.
