Questions people ask

How many days do you need for Agra sightseeing?

Two days: one for the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, the old city and the tombs across the river, one for Fatehpur Sikri and Akbar's Tomb. The city sights alone fit in one long day.

Which day is the Taj Mahal closed?

Every Friday. Agra Fort, the Baby Taj, Mehtab Bagh, Akbar's Tomb and Fatehpur Sikri are open every day, from sunrise to sunset.

What are the Taj Mahal timings?

From 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes before sunset, every day except Friday. Night viewing, 20:00 to midnight on a few nights a month, is booked separately.

Can a cab drop me at the Taj Mahal gate?

No. Cars must stop at parking a short way from the gates, to protect the marble from fumes. From there a battery bus or a walk of a few minutes takes you to the East or West Gate.

Is Fatehpur Sikri worth a visit from Agra?

Yes. Akbar's red sandstone capital is just under an hour west by cab, with palaces, the great mosque and the Buland Darwaza gate. It is open on Fridays, which makes it a good Friday plan.

Is a full-day cab enough for Agra local sightseeing?

Yes. The city day is about 31 km and the Fatehpur Sikri day about 107 km. Check the hours and kilometre limit with the operator before you book.
