Questions people ask

How many days do you need for Hyderabad?

Two days covers the main sights: one for the old city (Charminar, Chowmahalla Palace, the Salar Jung Museum) with Birla Mandir and Hussain Sagar, and one for Golconda Fort, the Qutb Shahi Tombs and Hitech City. Add a third day for Ramoji Film City.

Which Hyderabad sights are closed on Fridays?

Chowmahalla Palace, the Salar Jung Museum, the Qutb Shahi Tombs, the Nizam's Museum and the Paigah Tombs are closed on Fridays, and Charminar shuts from 13:00 to 14:00 for prayers. On a Friday, see Golconda Fort, Birla Mandir, Hussain Sagar, Shilparamam and Durgam Cheruvu, or go to Ramoji Film City. The zoo and the Golconda sound and light show are closed on Mondays.

What are the Charminar and Golconda Fort timings and ticket prices?

Both open at 06:00 since May 2026. At Charminar only the ground floor is open before 09:00; the climb starts at 09:00. Listings give 17:00 or 17:30 for closing, so arrive well before 17:00. Each costs ₹25 for Indians and ₹300 for foreigners.

Can a cab drive up to Charminar?

Not right up to it. The streets round Charminar are crowded and partly closed to cars, so the cab drops you nearby. Charminar, Mecca Masjid and Laad Bazaar are a few minutes apart on foot, and Chowmahalla Palace is about 500 m south.

What time is the Golconda Fort sound and light show?

Listings give about 18:30 in winter (November to February) and 19:00 in summer, with shows in English, Hindi and Telugu one after another. It is closed on Mondays. It is not in the day plans, which end by evening; tell the cab operator if you want to stay for it.

Is Ramoji Film City worth a full day?

Yes, if you like films or are travelling with children: it takes the whole day, from about 10:00 to 17:30. The studio tour costs about ₹1,450 for adults plus GST, and tickets are sold only until 14:00. It is about 36 km east of the city, 1 to 1.5 hours each way.

Can you see the Statue of Equality and Chilkur Balaji from Hyderabad?

Yes, as a half day: the Statue of Equality is about 37 km south and Chilkur Balaji about 26 km west, about 96 km in all. Go in the afternoon for the evening fountain show at the statue. Listings disagree on whether it is closed every Wednesday or only the last one of the month, so check its website first.

Can you visit Falaknuma Palace?

Only as a guest of the Taj hotel it now is, or by booking high tea, lunch or dinner there, which includes a short heritage tour. Book ahead; walk-in visits are not allowed.

What is the best time to visit Hyderabad?

October to February, when days are about 25 to 30 °C. April and May go near 40 °C, so start early and keep museums for the afternoon. The monsoon (June to September) brings rain most afternoons.

Can you do Warangal as a day trip from Hyderabad?

It is about 150 km each way, so about 300 km there and back for the Thousand Pillar Temple, Warangal Fort and Ramappa. It is better as an overnight trip than a sightseeing cab day.
