The drive: which way to go
There are two main roads north: the coast highway and the inland MC Road. They are about the same length.
NH66 through Kollam and Alleppey
~213 km · about 5 h · via Kollam, Kayamkulam & Alleppey
The main highway up the coast, and the way most cabs go. It's flat all the way, and you can stop for lunch in Alleppey, about 61 km before Kochi.
MC Road through Kottayam
~217 km · about 5 h · via Kottarakkara, Adoor & Kottayam
About 4 km longer, inland through a string of market towns. Each town slows you down, so pick it only if you want to stop in Kottayam or the coast road is jammed.
